Made up of OD (vocals, guitar, songwriter), aka Orlando Draven, Santi Rivillas (drums), and AKO (guitar), Zeistencroix’s sound merges searing industrial metal with elements of dark symphonic metal. The band’s sound highlights the vocal ability of OD to generate boiling sonic vibrations, referred to as throat singing, which originated in Mongolia. In throat singing, the vocalist creates a basic tone and at the same time other tones over it.

Last fall, Zeistencroix toured Europe, following the release of Gen Z. Scheduled to tour the U.S. in spring 2020 the tour had to be canceled due to the pandemic. However, just prior to the lockdown, the band filmed the video for “Fallen Prophet” in San Bernadino.

The music video premiered on Outburn, which wrote, “Powerful guitar riff, odd-time syncopated drums, heavy use of electronic sounds, a clean and an electronic voice without the use of any effector are some of the great qualities of the melodies of the band. Their incredible live shows combine aggression, energy, power, and prowess that excites and engages their audience.”

OD’s gritty, rasping timbres imbue the lyrics with multiple surfaces of coloration, pulsating and intertwining into snarling fractals of sound.

“Fallen Prophet” opens on strident industrial colors riding shifting accent drums infusing the tune with oblique, staggering energy, almost tribal in energy. Growling, stuttering guitars fill the harmonic flow with muscular ripples of surging washes of dirty hues while gleaming orchestral synths fill the backdrop with sinuous textures.

The video begins with dystopian visuals reminiscent of Mad Max. As the images cut back and forth from the band to doomsday-filled depictions, the music roils and heaves with supercharged oomph.

Zeistencroix lays it down with souped-up thick waves of brio on pummeling drums, brawny grimacing guitars, and OD’s gravitational vocals.
