From Jakarta, Indonesia, pop-punk outfit Nosferal dropped their self-titled EP on August 20, featuring four high-octane tracks.

Nosferal

According to the band, Nosferal stands for “No One Should Ever Fear Everlasting Rage And Love.”  Made up of Miftahul Fajri (lead vocals), August Resky (guitar, backing vocals), Firdaus Megananda (bass), and Yoga Dharmawan (drums), Nosferal’s sound is full of beau coup energy, potent guitars, and infectious rhythms.

Put simply, Nosferal has it going on!

The EP opens with a short “Intro” full of searing guitars and rumbling drums accompanied by a throbbing bassline, and then flows into the second track, “The Girl Next Door,” which travels on surging, chugging guitars rife with tight metallic savors. The rhythm pushes hard and fast, as the drums and bass set up a commanding pulsation. Fajri’s voice, slighty nasal, yet exuding massive dollops of punk attitude on beguiling melodic tones, infuses the tune with tasty sonic textures.

The band’s ability to inject dazzling harmonies sets them apart from the run-of-the-mill punk rockers.

“For The Last Time” opens with filtered vocals flowing into a muscular hard-hitting tune riding dense, thick guitars atop thrumming rhythmic palpitations. I love the slapping vibrations of the bass on this track, embellished by finessed use of tom-toms, adding tantalizing rounded tones.

On the breakdown, grand vocal harmonies imbue the tune with effervescent hues and bright timbres. The band’s ability to inject dazzling harmonies sets them apart from the run-of-the-mill punk rockers.

The final track, “What’s Your Favorite Things On Earth” blends Go-Go’s like harmonies with vibrant pop-punk dynamics, as the guitars stutter and gulp with heavy wall-of-sound resonance. Megananda’s bass, cavernous, fat, and dominant, provides the heft that makes this song superb, vaguely reminiscent of Fall Out Boy back when they knew how to pump it out. Only Nosferal kicks it up two notches, packing the harmonics with brawny muscle, as well as sophisticated flavors.

Nosferal, the band and the EP, are excellent, full of alluring layers of sonic oomph, contagious rhythms, and delicious vocal harmonies. And they have cool T-shirts!
