SKYND UNVEIL STARK VISUALS FOR ‘TYLER HADLEY’

A short while ago, Gothic-electro-industrial duo SKYND released their new music video, “Tyler Hadley,” one of three tracks from the duo’s latest EP, Chapter II.

SKYND is the dark artistic outlet of vocalist Skynd and producer/multi-instrumentalist Father. The duo’s music embraces harsh-textured energy, almost palpable with dark resolves. It’s a sound rife with the press and icy dread of Dante’s Inferno.

“Tyler Hadley” narrates the true tale of Tyler Hadley, who hijacked his parents’ smart phones, popped three tabs of ecstasy, and walked to his parents’ office. He stood behind his mother as she worked on her computer. Then, hefting a hammer, he beat her to death. Moments later, he killed his father in the same manner, followed by devoting three hours to cleaning up blood.

Concealing the two bodies in the bedroom, he threw a party at the house for sixty friends. SKYND says, "He developed the idea to kill his parents so he didn't have to ask for permission anymore. He ended up having a party in the house that dead bodies were in, so it's really creepy."

Explaining the video, Father says, "We don't create — we document. We don't see ourselves as artists, but as craftsmen and we are getting better and better at it. Chapter II is the current state of our abilities."

"He ended up having a party in the house that dead bodies were in, so it's really creepy."

SKYND burst onto the music scene in 2018 with the release of their debut EP, Chapter 1, which included three tracks referencing notorious serial killers: “Elisa Lam,” “Gary Heidnik,” and “Richard Ramirez.”

“Tyler Hadley” opens on spine-chilling oscillating synths flowing into an eerie industrial melody rife with spine-chilling surging colors and ghostly accents, along with a muscular rhythmic pulse. Skynd’s cold mechanized tones infuse the song with pyrotechnic tension and remote nuances of uneasiness.

When the music ramps up to turbulent levels on the chorus, the harmonics, amalgamated with the lyrics, generate a quality of wicked susceptibility, fervor, and the Malthusian urgency of a grand mal seizure, balanced on a knife-edge between hysteria and apathy.

“Gangster Boogie / Bang Bang boogie boogie Bang Bang / boogie boogie Bang Bang / Bang Bang boogie boogie Bang Bang / boogie boogie Bang Bang.”

“Tyler Hadley” thrums with extra-suspensory sonic energy driven by visceral rhythmic vibrations crowned by the vivid, deliciously hyperbolic tones of Skynd.
