The Archive Sessions follows on the heels of The Isolation Sessions and The Bedroom Sessions. All three albums will appear on Recessions, scheduled to release September 2020.

Gold is made up of Milena Eva (vocals), Thomas Sciarone (guitar), Kamiel Top (guitar), Jaka Bolic (guitar), Leyla Overdulve (bass), and Igor Wouters (drums).

On their Bandcamp page, Gold shares, “With The Archive Sessions we hope to give you a personal insight into our creative process. Besides prototype home recordings and demos of songs you already know, this album includes 6 songs you haven’t heard before. We do this because we believe in vulnerability. We hope you’ll feel inspired by our imperfect and vulnerable gesture by enjoying ‘The Archive Sessions.’”

Milena’s voice, dreamy and beguiling, infuses the lyrics with mystical flavors and urgent coloration.

The album encompasses 11-tracks, beginning with “The Great Depression,” which opens on sizzling jangly guitars riding tight percussion flowing into a driving melody accented by a deliciously dark guitar. Milena’s voice, dreamy and beguiling, infuses the lyrics with mystical flavors and urgent coloration. Hints of surf-rock give the harmonics a bewitching mood, enhanced by the stellar bassline.

“Imposter” travels on measured gleaming guitar tones, followed by rolling, rumbling drums leading into surging layers of guitar colors. Other entry points include “Worn By Time and Weather,” featuring dark hues simmering with stormy latency as Milena’s divine siren-like tones glide overhead, taut, and imminent with ominous timbres.

The intro to “Things I Wish I Never Knew” opens on chanting vocals, beautifully arranged and layered, and then flows into a contagious pummeling-lite melody chock-full of bumble-bee guitars.

Low-slung, deep yet resonant strings open “A Word From You,” imbuing the tune with baroque quartet aromas, providing the harmonics with melancholic suggestions and tense vulnerable washes.

“The Controller” delivers strident colors on top of a gently riffing guitar, while Milena’s Celtic-flavored tones inject the lyric with elusive, mesmeric tones. Then the song ramps up to high-octane levels of garage rock with tangs of raw punk oomph.

The Archive Sessions is both captivating and viscerally alluring. The highlight of the album is Milena’s charismatic, seductive voice.
