The song is about that feeling we all get at times, like we’re spinning our wheels going nowhere, as if the vehicle of our life is stuck in neutral.

Explaining the song’s inspiration, Chanel West Coast says, “I wanted to make a song that expressed how I was feeling as well as making a song that other people could relate to. I think we all feel stuck in the middle of something at certain points in our life. We all chase dreams and get shut down a lot before those dreams eventually come true. Sometimes in life you just feel stuck in a rut you can’t get out of and that’s basically how I was feeling when I wrote the song. I want people to know that chasing your dreams is not easy and I hope that this song will inspire them to keep going because that’s why I made it. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep going and this song was what told me to never give up.”

“The Middle” is off-the-chain glossy and alluring, delivering silky, scrumptious energy, as well as the luscious voice of Chanel West Coast.

West Coast first made waves in 2012, when she signed with ‘Lil Wayne’s Young Money label, followed by releasing “Karl,” her tribute to fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The track was the first single from her mixtape, Now You Know. In 2014, Chanel West Coast took home the Best New Group award at BET’s annual extravaganza.

At the present juncture, West Coast stars with Rob Dyrdek on MTV’s popular Ridiculousness, and was featured on For Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. She also has a new mixtape out, called Waves, featuring YG on “I Like New.”

“The Middle” opens on a stylish, sensuous R&B-flavored hip-hop melody. Full of retro colors and velvety textures, as well as tasty “ooo” “ooo” vocal harmonies, the tune rides a muscular measured rhythm. West Coast’s voice, seductive with voluptuous hues, drips with cool brooding creamy washes of reflection.

The video, directed by West Coast, depicts the chic elegant fashion of the ‘50s and ‘60s, stuffed with scintillating points of luminescence.
