Ian Curtis

Ian Curtis is a tragic figure. As the frontman of Joy Division, Curtis tapped into his profound sadness to craft songs that impacted legions of people intensely. His sonorous, deep voice was full of pain, pain that became tragically evident when he hanged himself. Truly, it was a life that ended too soon…and now you can buy boots that use his legacy to try and make some cash.

Dr. Martens Boots

Dr. Martens, boot overlords of the world, have announced three specials pairs of boots dedicated to two New Order albums and one Joy Division album. That may seem odd if you aren't familiar with the history of those two bands, but Joy Division effectively became New Order once Curtis died. New Order would last longer, and find success of their own, but they will forever be in the shadow of Joy Division.

Truly, it was a life that ended too soon…and now you can buy boots that use his legacy to try and make some cash.

The three albums being showcased are Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures, which has iconic artwork, and New Order's Technique and Power, Corruption and Lies. All three boots feature the album designs, and honestly they look pretty cool. The New Order covers in particular make for some flashy boots. Unknown Pleasures doesn't have the most elaborate cover art, it's the band, and Curtis, that made that album iconic. Still, people are going to be happy to buy those boots. It does feel a little weird to see Dr. Martens making cash off of Joy Division, and Curtis, in boot form, but that's the music industry for you.
