Jeff Goldblum is cool. He's a beloved actor. He's a meme. People are into him. They like him as a concept. His talk show appearances are a delight. He seems like a genuine eccentric. People love Jurassic Park. He's fun in Thor: Ragnarok. Et cetera and so on.

Everything Goldblum does is worth noting, is what I'm saying. It's guaranteed to get people dropping memes and posting photos of him without his shirt on as Dr. Ian Malcolm. That's the internet for you. So when Jeff Goldblum says he is making an album, you best believe people will pay attention.

Now for the sad news. It's a jazz album. That means you aren't going to listen to it, other than for the sheer novelty. Jazz sucks, and even Goldblum can't change that. The man himself may disagree, he's not putting out a jazz album for no reason, but we'll just call that another of his many quirks. We don't know any details other than the major one, which is that Goldblum is making a jazz album. That's all we really need in the end.

The album is coming out for Decca Records. "I’m so happy to be in cahoots with the wonderful people at Decca, one of the coolest and most prestigious labels of all time," said Goldblum, presumably with many pauses and gestures. "As far as I can tell, everyone loves Jeff Goldblum. It’s like a universal truth," said Decca's Tom Lewis. We may not all agree on jazz, but we can all agree on that.
