Made up of Jordan White (vocals), Brian Dellis (guitar), and Bryan “Big B” Dague (bass), White and Dellis hooked up in 2013 to write together, adding “Big B” to the lineup in 2018. The band’s sound echoes flavors of ‘90s alternative rock, along with the compressed emotion dripping from White’s nonpareil voice, definitely one of the most expressive, potent female vocalists extant.

After finishing high school, White toured with Up With People, followed by taking a BFA in Musical Theater from AMDA. A self-taught guitarist, Dellis got his start playing in punk bands, while Dague is a graduate of CRAS.

Last year, Jane N’ The Jungle released their debut album, Concrete Jungle, sponsored by Ford Motor Company, followed five months later by “Little Blue,” remixed by Grammy-winner Chuck Alkazian. The band’s music has appeared in Honda commercials while racking up more than 1 million streams on Spotify.

On “Animal,” Jane N’ The Jungle project palpable emotion, full of wicked, thrilling oomph, as White’s vocals slice like a knife.

“Animal” opens on quaking keyboards topped by White’s sumptuous tones, followed by a sliding bassline as the rhythm enters, low-slung with hints of blues savors. When the harmonics mousse up to energized levels of muscular guitars, White’s voice surges with swaggering timbres, slightly rasping, yet loaded with supercharged coloration.

It’s a voice bursting with passionate force, like Janis Joplin’s, sans the rough grittiness, but exuding the same souped-up sonic impetus.

The video, by Ray² Productions, shot in black and white before a Spartan backdrop, emphasizes the musicians’ skill on their instruments, while focusing on White’s charismatic performance, as she struts the range and prowess of her voice.
