Formed in 2017, the band is made up of Joshua Mackay (vocals, guitar), Steve Francis (guitar), Cody King (bass, vocals), and Joshua Iliffe (drums). The guys initially hit it off over a lover for The Mummy movies, starring Brendan Fraser.

Josh told Kel Burch of Depth Magazine, “Well when we first formed as a band we initially bonded over our love of Brendan Fraser, but mainly The Mummy movies. When we went and recorded our first song, we stayed in a hotel and that night one of the TV channels was playing them all, so it became our thing. We take influence from their awesomeness.”

Recorded at Electric Sun Studios with producer Rich Mammoliti, the EP comprises six-tracks, starting off with “Don’t Wait,” which opens on potent guitar riffs atop rumbling drums flowing into a tasty pop-punk melody. Mackay’s voice, tight and just right for the genre, infuses the lyrics with scrumptious angsty-flavors, as remote yet radiant harmonies fill in the gaps.

The title track might be the best one on the EP, opening on gently streaming colors capped by Mackay’s tender tones.

“Don't say my name, you always had a way with words / Show me why you make it hurt to be like you / I can't breathe under the weight you put on me / You pull and tear me at the seams, I'll never be like you.”

Entry points include “Ashes In The Grey,” featuring a glitter soft intro with cashmere vocals. When the tune ramps up, the guitars inject swirling glistening colors aglow with surging dynamics.

“I'll find my way through dark and night / I wish you were here, I wish you were here / It doesn't seem right, It doesn't seem fair / This pain is my cross to bear.”

The title track might be the best one on the EP, opening on gently streaming colors capped by Mackay’s tender tones. Slowly building harmonics eventually mousse up to strapping levels of resonance, as the vocals assume urgent tones.

Without a doubt, Fiveash has it going on, delivering brawny pop-punk, finessed melodies, and marvelously colored vocals.
