UK garage rock outfit Dirty Get dropped their Best Laid Plans EP March 24.

Dirty Get

The band is made up of Scott Eveleigh on bass and vocals; Dan Stobbart on guitar and vocals; and Tom Barrett on drums and vocals. Last year, the band dropped their EP, Heart and Soul. Other than that, the information available on the band is null and void. Even their Facebook page reveals nothing about how they got together, where they’ve played, etc.

All that to say this: regardless of the lack of data, their music speaks volumes. It’s raw and powerful and definitely slaps.

Best Laid Plans contains four-tracks. First up is “Boyfriend,” riding thick, heavy, dirty guitars and a deep bass line, along with Thor-like percussion. Slurring, rasping vocals infuse the tune with tough flavors rife with bad-ass attitude. There’s just a hint of punk running through the harmonics. A sneering, quasi-austere guitar solo exudes ripe, raw colors, like something you left in the garbage disposal – nasty, but potent.

I love the flat impact of Barrett’s drums and toms, compact and really taut.

“Progress” features a faster tempo, grinding guitars, and super-cool background vocals – “whoa-oh-oh-oh.” Whoever’s singing lead really lets loose with snarling, grating tones, as the guitars thrum with nuclear hues and beau coup force. A rounded, echoing guitar rips up the solo section with grand aplomb.

“Traps” opens on dark, subterranean colors, with tints of bluesy pigments. I love the bass on this track, from way down deep in the center of the earth. It’s complemented by a metallically grimacing guitar and taut vocals backed by tasty hooting harmonies.

“Plans” rockets off from the first note, traveling on stuttering guitar and bass lines, as antiphonal vocals inject the tune with tight bravura tones. I love the flat impact of Barrett’s drums and toms, compact and really taut.

Dirty Get get down and dirty on Best Laid Plans, rolling out massive sonic energy and splendidly impertinent and tasty vocals. This band launches it!
