Who has the best voice in music today? There are a lot of fine options, but for my money the answer to that question is Angel Olsen. It's hard to articulate the qualities that make her voice just so god damn beautiful. There is a quavering vibrato that is immensely powerful when she sings at the top of her lungs and achingly sad when she is quiet and ruminative.

My Woman was one of my favorite albums of 2016, and it's largely because her voice is just so intoxicating. I will listen to anything she sings, and I have rarely been disappointed.

Recently Olsen joined forces with Jim James from My Morning Jacket to perform a cover of a Sonny and Cher song, of all things. James has a distinct voice of his own, though I don't like his particular flavor of music as much as Olsen's.

As for Sonny and Cher, I knew one song by them, and that was "I Got You Babe" naturally. I've seen Groundhog Day. Now I know two songs, though, because I've listen to Olsen and James perform "Baby Don't Go."

Their voices mix well together and, as always, Olsen sounds amazing.

It seems like a wise choice for this duo, because the song feels right up their alleys. Plus, it's designed to be a duet, with both James and Olsen having an obvious part to play. Their voices mix well together and, as always, Olsen sounds amazing.

Also, this performance was at a thing called Festival of Destruction hosted by David Lynch. Yes, the David Lynch. It was probably weird. At least everybody got to hear Olsen and James perform an unexpectedly haunting Sonny and Cher song.
