Zealyn Releases Debut EP
June 24, 2016 (Los Angeles, CA) - LA-based artist Zealyn has released her debut EP, Limbic System, making the project available for streaming and purchase at all digital outlets today. Lead by singles "Sleep On It," "Limbic System (ft. JMR)," and "Overwhelmed (ft. Aaron Marsh)," this EP showcases Zealyn's vocals over percussive soundscapes, bursts of thickly-stacked harmonies, and beds of strings.
The songs are distinctly alternative/electronic, marking a shift from her previous pop stylings. “After three years of being a pop artist, I was craving more creativity in my music. I wanted to experiment more and create a sound of my own. Aaron Marsh was able to bring each idea of mine to life, and working with him in the studio on Limbic System is where I discovered my sound,” says Zealyn. Not only did Aaron Marsh produce Limbic System, but he also co-wrote each song alongside Zealyn is his Florida studio and contributed his vocals to the single, "Overwhelmed."
Reflecting on the process of writing, recording, and releasing music Zealyn tells us, "The journey of music is thrilling, chaotic, unpredictable, etc. but I love every part of it. I put my heart and soul into Limbic System and I hope that when people listen to it, they hear and feel that. I just want to make honest music that people enjoy and tell their friends about, and I hope Limbic System is that."
"The past few years have seen a resurgence of experimental sounds, avant-garde fusions, all lead by powerful female voices. BANKS and FKA Twigs are the first that come to mind, with L.A.-based Zealyn coming closely behind." - NYLON Magazine
"...her gorgeous vocals slink intrinsically throughout the thoughtful array of manicured beats... The vocal assist from JMR on the track ["Limbic System (ft. JMR)"], too, is just icing on the cake, as his verse is both distinct and complementary to the single as a whole." - Hillydilly
"Another radically transformed female artist is Zealyn... She reemerged earlier this month with sparse electronic anthem “Talk: Listen” and now backs it up with the even more experimental “Sleep On It.”' - Idolator
