...And The Black Feathers

Sociallusions delves into our universal love for, and representation on, social media – the world of curated construal.

Made up of Danny (vocals, guitar), David (vocals, bass), Chris (drums),and  Zach (vocals, keyboards), the band’s sound blends dripping blues rock with Detroit-flavored garage rock reminiscent of Mitch Ryder and MC5.

And The Black Feathers came to life in downtown Denver, on Colfax Avenue, and has shared the stage with Thee Oh Sees, The Stone Foxes, Electric Six, and the Soft White Sixties.

Sociallusions encompasses four-tracks, starting off with “Danger,” opening on dark gritty colors flowing into a blues-infused melody riding tight rumbling drums. Dirty searing guitar licks add tasty murky accents, as the gang-like vocals travel overhead, rife with intense timbres.

A soft almost psychedelic breakdown leads into rolling drums and vibrant vocals delivering skintight dynamics.

“Scandalous” rides a crisp thumping drum shuffle seguing into a raucous melody full of gravelly textures. A braying organ imbues the harmonics with oozing drawling hues, as rough granular guitars deliver growling tones, hefty with beau coup muscle. Rasping vocals backed by compelling harmonies suffuse the tune with rough and ready flavors.

“Feature” features emerging tones from the organ flowing into a grainy melody rife with prickly textures, muddy with surging blues energy. A soft almost psychedelic breakdown leads into rolling drums and vibrant vocals delivering skintight dynamics.

The lyrics of “Feature” focus on the illusion of social media, as people present facades of reality, publishing fabricated photos, fictional posts, and celebrity existences as actuality.

“Leash” opens on a cappella vocals transitioning to a wickedly dark tune laced with sepulchral colors. There’s an ominous aura suffusing the harmonics, as if something nastily tight is being figured out. A personal favorite, this song delivers potently cavernous thrumming momentum.

Sociallusions is superb, full of thick raw relishes of energy, contagiously primal rhythms, and deliciously grating vocal tones.
